About Doug Deramus
Doug Deramus was instrumental through the decade of the 90's helping pioneer a style of music that has come to be known as "Christian Country". Doug not only hosted and produced one of the early Christian Country syndicated radio shows but for years had the distinction of being the largest Christian Country syndicated radio show in the nation, reaching over 40 markets.
Doug gained the respect of Nashville industry professionals not by radio alone, but by producing some of the top-quality recordings in Christian Country throughout the 90's. He was up for a GRAMMY nomination for Record Producer of the Year six separate times. Eight albums that he produced made the GRAMMY entry list for the top 30 albums in the world in the categories of Country Gospel, Bluegrass Gospel, and Southern Gospel.
To date, he has produced 24 number one songs and many more top 5, top 10, and top 40 hits in Christian Country—most recently “Living Stones” in 2024 with his daughter, Felicia Deramus-Paul.
Several years ago, actor Robert Duvall requested Doug to assist in proofreading the script for the movie "Apostle E.F.," later renamed "The Apostle," in which Doug also had an appearance.
In 1999, Doug joined the ranks of other famous Americans, receiving a commission from Kentucky Governor Paul E. Patton as a Kentucky Colonel—the highest honor the state of Kentucky can give a U.S. citizen. Kentucky Colonels are the state's ambassadors of goodwill and fellowship around the world. Other distinguished Kentucky Colonels include President Lyndon B. Johnson, Sir Winston Churchill, John Glenn, Bing Crosby, and Red Skelton. Colonel DeRamus has an open invitation to attend the Governor's Ball and the Kentucky Derby as a special guest.
Doug was also appointed and commissioned as an Ambassador of the State of Tennessee by Governor Don Sundquist.
He has received international recognition as the top producer in Christian Country Music twice from The International Star Music Awards in London, England.
Doug was inducted into the International Country Gospel Music Hall of Fame in 2006, where he served as President for two years, Vice President for three years, and a board member for twenty years. He was also inducted into the Texas International Music Hall of Fame in 2000.
Doug received an honorary doctorate degree from The Bible Training Institute of America.
Of all that Doug Deramus is a part of, being the Senior Pastor for 45 years in Broken Bow, Oklahoma, and traveling to preach the Gospel of Jesus Christ in crusades across the jungles of Panama, the San Blas Islands, Jamaica, Colombia, the Dominican Republic, and Mexico is what he holds most dear to his heart.
